Requirements

While we always recommend following the official WordPress system requirements for the best performance and security, Salient has its own minimum specifications to ensure everything runs smoothly. Meeting or exceeding the requirements below will help guarantee proper functionality, reliable updates, and an optimal experience when building your site.

View the official WordPress requirements here.

Minimum Versions Required

  • PHP version 7.4 or greater.
  • MySQL version 8.0 or greater OR MariaDB version 10.4 or greater.

Note: Although Salient still supports PHP 7.4, it is not recommended. PHP 7.4 reached end of life on November 28, 2022, meaning it no longer receives security updates. For the safest and most stable environment, we strongly advise using a supported PHP version. (PHP 8.0+)

Minimum PHP Settings

  • upload_max_filesize – 36M or greater
  • post_max_size – 36M or greater
  • memory_limit 256M or greater

Recommended PHP Settings For Demo Importing

  • max_execution_time – 150 or greater

Errors on Updating / Installing

If you see the message “Are you sure you want to do this? Please try again.” or “The link you followed has expired” while attempting to update, it usually means your server’s PHP configuration has a low maximum upload size or a low maximum execution time. To fix this, increase the following PHP settings to values higher than 35M. Any reputable hosting provider can update these for you quickly and without hassle.
